Teeth Whitening
the white smile you want and deserve
Benefits of Whitening
Teeth whitening (bleaching) represents a pain free professional dental treatment that can predictably brighten the colour of your teeth. Food products (wine, tea, coffee, balsamic vinegar, etc.) or habits (smoking, chewing tobacco) darken our teeth. Overtime everyone’s teeth develop some degree of staining. Teeth whitening does not address darkening due to developmental abnormalities or old fillings. In such instances, teeth whitening is typically instituted as a first step in a holistic treatment plan to improve the esthetics of your smile (esthetic crowns, replacement of discolored fillings, etc.).
It’s important to share that teeth whitening is not permanent and that minor touch-up treatments may be needed every several years. Research supports that the best method to achieve optimum safe teeth whitening is through a gentle yet effective nightly home treatment. This approach allows the flexibility to control for potential sensitivity, establish colour accuracy and can be used in future as required for touch ups.
Teeth whitening starts with the taking of impressions from which customized whitening trays are made that fit your specific smile. We will then provide you with a specifically calibrated bleaching solution and in depth instructions. Sensitivity is a common initial reaction, which typically subsides once the whitening treatment is completed. As with any health therapy, teeth whitening is not advisable for everyone. Schedule a consultation today to see if you are a good candidate for whitening treatment.

In-office 1-Visit Whitening System:
This approach is ideal for individuals who require immediate whitening. A typical session lasts between 40 minutes to 1 hour. A gingival protective barrier will be applied to the surrounding gum tissues. After the professional grade bleaching system will be applied directly to your teeth and monitored throughout the application. Rest assured your teeth will achieve the same degree of whiteness with either an in-office or at-home approach. As with any health therapy, teeth whitening is not advisable for everyone. What about over-the counter products like ‘White Strips’?
The drawbacks with such systems are that firstly they are not customized to your specific tooth anatomy. Secondly, over the counter products do not contain the same concentration of whitening agent and as such, results are typically inadequate and of limited duration. Without customized trays, the whitening bleaching solution will not be evenly distributed. Perhaps the only thing worse than dark dingy teeth are zerba stripes, a common sequella of over the counter approaches. Should teeth be only partially whitened, it is next to impossible to fully correct and re-establish a pleasing natural smile.
